Partners in Homeownership - Selection Day

Sorting through several dozen countertop samples, cabinet styles and finishes, and other details, might be overwhelming and time consuming for a future homeowner - but not for Shaun. He has been waiting for this day ever since he was referred to Interfaith Housing Alliance (IHA) by a co-worker who was a participant in IHA’s Self-Help Homeownership program in 2011.

Shaun, a single dad of 6 year old Dana, desired an opportunity to move out of the mobile home they have lived in for years, so he applied and was approved for one of IHA’s homeownership programs – Housing First.

To help Shaun achieve his dream, IHA was able to acquire down payment assistance through Franklin County, PA towards the purchase of the home.  In partnership with IHA, Dan Ryan Builders has the pleasure of bringing to fruition Shaun’s new home in the established community of Nottingham Meadows in Greencastle, PA.

Shaun met with Cathy, Dan Ryan Builders’ Washington Region Sales Manager, along with Linda, IHA’s Homeownership Manager, to review his floor plan, selections, and options before Dan Ryan Builders breaks ground on his home.
A very exciting start to a better life!

Partners in Homeownership - Shaun's Journey

There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone's dream of homeownership come true. Every time we walk through a home under construction with its future owners, we share their excitement in the home's potential. We are thrilled to provide their family with a great value home to fill with memories.

Interfaith Housing Alliance (IHA) shares this experience with us on a different level as they work to make affordable housing available to families for which homeownership may not have been possible.

In partnership with IHA, Dan Ryan Builders is currently constructing a home for one of IHA's families, Shaun and his 6 year old daughter, Dana.

Stay posted to Dan Ryan Builders' Blog to follow Shaun's journey from choosing selections to move in day!

Transform Your Kitchen for Summer!

http://www.etsy.com/listing/97941433/art-for-kitchen-mid-century-poster

The weather is warming up and with summer upon us, it’s time to spruce up your favorite room of the house: your kitchen. Traditionally, kitchen remodels were treacherous endeavors that took weeks of headache and contractor’s bills. Today, homeowners are trying quick, inexpensive ways to liven up their kitchen- paint. With just a quick trip to the home improvement store and a weekend of elbow grease, you can completely transform your Dan Ryan kitchen to the envy of all of your neighbors.

This summer, the trend is leaning towards brighter colors. “Although kitchens have traditionally been painted white or pale colors, there is a major movement today toward saturated colors," says Margaret Walch, director of The Color Association of the United States.

Don’t know what color looks better with your stainless steel appliances? Walch says a deep red will bring warmth and character to your kitchen. If you are not ready for a whole room of red, painting one wall will add a little soul to your kitchen but still be modest enough for even the most timid homeowner.

Another trend in kitchen remodeling is the backsplash. This is usually a sheet of tile or other material that is glued on the wall right above your counter and below your cabinets. Backsplashes have gained in popularity because they are inexpensive, easy, and add color and texture to any kitchen (as seen below in this beautiful Dan Ryan kitchen)

Remember, the kitchen is the heart of any home, so pay attention to it. Make sure it is warm and inviting and a place you want to spend time in. Here, at Dan Ryan homes, we give you a stunning canvas to make the kitchen your favorite room of your home.

BUILDER Unveils Its BUILDER 100 Rankings for 2011

DAN RYAN BUILDERS REMAINS AS ONE OF THE TOP 50 HOME BUILDERS IN THE NATION!

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 14, 2012) — BUILDER, the leading media brand for the home building industry, this week unveiled the BUILDER 100, its annual ranking of the 100 largest home building companies. Dan Ryan Builders placed at 50.

Frederick, Maryland-based Dan Ryan Builders closed 505 homes during the 2011 calendar year, 3 more closings than they experienced in 2010 when Dan Ryan Builders was ranked 48. Dan Ryan Builders remains unique in the industry as one of the few large, privately owned regional homebuilders, which means they are able to focus on the needs of the home buyer, rather than the needs of the shareholders.

The top 100 home builders outperformed the overall market last year. The U.S. Census Bureau reported 302,000 new-home sales and 16,000 for-sale multifamily completions in 2011, a 10 percent decline from 2010, and the lowest numbers on record. The typical BUILDER 100 company closed 1,416 homes last year, an 8 percent decline. BUILDER 100 companies recorded an average $414 million in revenue, 2 percent less than in 2010.

Though overall closings and revenue fell, the top 100 saw an increase in market share for the second year in a row. BUILDER 100 companies saw their aggregate share of closings of for-sale units rise in 2011 by 2.5 percent to 43.42 percent. That’s the highest market share for this group that BUILDER has ever recorded.

“Although the top 10 builders maintained their share year over year, it was the middle tier, Nos. 11 through 50, that experienced the biggest gain,” said Denise Dersin, BUILDER’s editor in chief. “A number of those companies are large, regional builders based in areas that did not suffer the severest shocks of the recession. But Any company with positive closings or revenue in 2011 was also doing a lot of the right things.”

The BUILDER 100 is compiled from data collected by BUILDER magazine via direct survey of the nation’s top builders. The BUILDER 100 (and the Next 100) list is comprised of both private and public builders and identifies the top home builders in America by annual closings, gross revenue, and rate of change year over year, as well as information about where and what they build.

BUILDER magazine has been conducting the survey and compiling the list since 1984. The BUILDER 100 is profiled extensively in the May 2012 issue of BUILDER magazine and on BUILDERONLINE.com. This year’s honorees also will be recognized at an awards luncheon event at the 2012 Housing Leadership Summit on May 15 in New York. For more information about the 2011 BUILDER 100 rankings, visit www.builderonline.com/builder100/2011.aspx.
