Dan Ryan Builders Gives Back with a "Building the Dream" Donation

Dan Ryan Builders continues to “Pay it Forward” with his generosity by donating $30,000 to help support the Hospice’s “Building the Dream” capital campaign. Dan Ryan’s donation will go towards the building of the new Inpatient Care facility as well as helping with the reconstruction of the main office, which is scheduled to start June 13th 2012.

“We really love being involved in the communities where we are. We recognize how important that is."   -Dan Ryan

The Hospice of the Panhandle is asking for support to realize a long-held dream for the community--the area's very own inpatient hospice house! Historically, Eastern Panhandle residents have had to leave the area to receive this level of hospice care, so in 2009 Hospice of the Panhandle began a project to build a 14-bed inpatient hospice house and new main office conveniently located on the same 19-acre campus. However, in order to bring this level of care closer to home. Hospice needs your help. You can make the dream happen along with Dan Ryan Builders with a campaign pledge or one-time gift.

Making a Building the Dream Donation
Your donation options vary widely and can be personalized to fit your desires. For information about making a one-time donation or campaign pledge, please contact Maria Lorensen, Development Director, at 304.267.1870, ext. 205 or mlorensen@hospiceotp.org.

Ten Ways to Green your Home

www.http://www.danryanbuilders.com/energystar/

It seems like the color green is on everyone’s mind these days. From “green” cars to “green” grocery bags, staying green is not only environmentally friendly, but also a great way to save money.

“When it comes to the environment, being a good global citizen starts at your doorstep. From recycling to using alternative cleaning materials, minor changes at home can add up to real benefits for the planet, not to mention your own health and happiness”

Some of their tips to stay green are:

1). Green up your appliances-Energy Star-qualified appliances use 10%-50% less energy and water than standard models

2.) Watch the temp.- Almost half a home's energy consumption is due to heating and cooling.

3.) Save Water-Put an aerator on all household faucets and cut your annual water consumption by 50%.

Dan Ryan Builders knows that these are hard times and it takes little changes to make big differences in your monthly expenses. That is why our homes are built with Energy Star appliances, HVAC systems with sealed ductwork for minimal leakage, and faucets that reduce water consumption. Your Credit Score : The Move to Homeownership

It’s no secret that the higher your credit score, the easier it is for you to qualify for a loan and get a better interest rate. Dan Ryan Builders can connect you to the right resources who know what to look for in order to help you raise your credit score. We have solutions to make buying a new hone easier AND more affordable.

Once you have narrowed your price range for your home and are ready to buy, it’s time to get preapproved for a loan. If you are a less than desirable candidate for a loan, you can raise your credit score with these tips:
  • Pay your bills on time. Delinquent payments can have a major negative impact on your score and the longer you pay your bills on time, the better your score. For example, someone with an average credit rating of 707 can raise their score by as much as 20 points by paying all their bills on time for one month.
  • Keep balances low on credit cards. High outstanding debt can affect your score. Maxing out your credit cards could lower your average score by as much as 70 points.
  • Don't open a number of new credit cards that you don't need. New accounts will lower your average account age, which could actually lower your score by up to 10 points. [Source: CNN Money]
The loaning process can be daunting, but Dan Ryan Builders is here to help you. Whether it is to give you helpful advice or take you through the process. Contact a Dan Ryan associate today!

Owning vs. Renting : The Move to Homeownership

The high demand for rental property has caused the cost of renting a home to rise. According to economists, rental rates are projected to grow 6.1% on average in 2012, and then grow higher and higher in the following years. But when you own a home, and lock in today’s low fixed rate, your mortgage payment will stay right where it is from the beginning. So while rents will keep going up…and up…and up…the cost of owning a new home of your own will remain stable.

"Buying a first home can be a rewarding and gratifying experience, not only emotionally, but economically."

Here’s a few reasons why it’s such a smart move:

        Owning                        vs.                         Renting
- Stability in monthly payment              - NO stability in monthly payment
- Opportunity for tax benefits                - NO tax benefits
- Pride of ownership                              - NO pride of ownership
- Potential for return on investment      - NO return on your investment
- Building equity in your property,         - NO equity
not your landlord’s                             - NO remodeling/ability to add personal touches
- Investing in your future
- Freedom to remodel and add your personal touches

Dan Ryan takes the pain out of Spring Cleaning!

It’s that time of year again! Spring has sprung and Dan Ryan Builders is giving you tips to clean your home easily and quickly. So, put on those rubber gloves and don’t forget the elbow grease, it’s time to make your house as beautiful as the day you moved in!

Martha Stewart, the Queen of everything domestic, released tips to make the most out of your spring cleaning this year. Some of her tips include:
  • Polish dingy light bulbs with a dampened microfiber cloth (remember to avoid the metal screw base!)
  • Change the direction of your ceiling fans-a counterclockwise breeze is optimal for warmer months, but for colder seasons, switching your ceiling fan direction to clockwise can actually help heat your home more efficiently! It redistributes the warm air hovering around the fan, making the room feel warmer. Most ceiling fans have a switch on the base that switches the direction the fan blows in.

WHY BUY? The Move to Homeownership

Chances are you’ve heard it all over the news: “It’s a buyer’s market! Interest rates are at record lows!” But what does that mean to you, the home buyer? Here at Dan Ryan Builders, we break it down for you:

"With interest rates at historically low levels and markets across the country beginning to improve, homeownership is within reach of more households than it has been for nearly two decades," said Bob Nielsen, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and a home builder from Reno, Nev.

Rates have never been this low. They are currently under 4.0 percent for buyers with good credit (think credit scores at least 720). Even if you don’t have an excellent credit score you may still be eligible for other good rates or deals. Now is the time to find out! [Source: Reality Times]
