Martinsburg, WV (April 9, 2010)… On the weekends of April 10th and 11th and April 17th and 18th, Dan Ryan Builders will be partnering with the Martinsburg Fire and Rescue Department, and the Regional Education Service Agency (RESA), to facilitate the state fire commission rescue school.
The Rescue School will be conducting its training in Martinsburg, WV in the community of Prentiss Point. Dan Ryan Builders is providing the land for the excavation operation. This operation will allow the Fire Rescue School to conduct training in trench rescue by opening and closing trenches of various widths and heights.
Recruits and rescuers will be learning how to excavate people from caves. With trench collapses being among the leading causes of death on the jobsite, this training will provide valuable hands-on knowledge to rescue personnel to use in the surrounding area.
At the conclusion of this training, on April 18th from 12pm-4pm, the media will be invited for a demonstration. This will be the highlight of the training and, while spectators view from behind a barrier, rescue teams will be showcasing what they have learned.
